For thousands of years before the arrival of European-American settlers, the Atfalati tribe of the Kalapuya lived in the Tualatin Valley near the later site of Hillsboro. The climate, moderated by marine influence from the Pacific Ocean, helped make the region suitable for fishing, TOSHIBA Satellite L300 CPU Fan hunting, food gathering, and agriculture. Hillsboro is located at 45°31′23″N 122°59′18″W.[34] The United States Census Bureau reports the city has a total area of 21.6 square miles (55.9 km2), all of which is land.
